Introduction
For those who
are new to our sceneries, this is the third version of the Malibu scenery
area since it's original release in 2001. It includes two separate airports
near eastern Malibu in California. In 2003 the second version was
released introducing the second airport on the beach. Malibu's original
airport, called Flight Center 2 (identifier AFC2) is currently
the main civilian flight test airport for Aeroworks
Technologies and all our creations. The second airport, a "Recreational
Airpark" which we call Malibu MotorSports (identifier CA99)
could be more accurately described as a vehicular playground than an airport,
is where we build, modify and test high performance sport aviation aircraft
such as the ARX-5 and ARX-6 series, as well as floatplanes and speedboats,
yachts, and various other things.
If you are new to our sceneries, review the airport information below at your leisure and have fun. If you have any suggestions, comments or problems please email the author.
If you have
had previous versions of this scenery, a list of changes is listed below
for those who are interested.

The first thing
returning simmers are likely to notice is the updated runway numbers and
the addition of a small grass strip as well as a new taxiway and runup
areas. AFC2 has always been able to support aircraft such as a 737, but
the largest aircraft we regularly fly in and out of here is the default
DeHavilland Dash-8. Along with taxiways, we've added taxiway signs courtesy
of Luis Sá's excellent Scenery Builder 2.05 and it was also
used to rework the Land Water Masks, and Vector Textured Polygon roads,
as well as and many other things you're liable to see here and there
(yes, of course we still hide many easter eggs in our sceneries). All the
ground textures have been updated, taxiways, and even palm trees finally
have new life, no longer requiring the Airport/VOD scenery textures. The
original HQ building has been scrapped and a totally new one rebuilt with
night textures and a landable rooftop helipad. Unfortunately, all of the
static aircraft that used to be parked in the main hangar are gone. Since
I am personally planning on reworking alot of them, the old ones just didn't
fit in.
On the Beach (CA99)
There weren't many
major things added to the beachfront airport itself, mostly little things
which you will see, but the major things we're reorganized and retextured.
As mentioned above, all older static aircraft have been removed, so the
helicopter is gone from the yacht and it's helipad on the rear deck is
now landable. The new airport identifier for the beachfront airport is
CA99. In version 2 it was also listed as AFC2 which led to some confusion
in the airport menu. All parking spots have been reorganized and all taxiways
restriped and appropriate signs added. The airport aside, the seashore
environment has changed drastically! The entire eastern section of Malibu
was totally left out of flightsim by Microsoft, so I went in with Scenery
Builder and added a new urban land class that is a bit more realistic to
the way Malibu really is, so now there are village communities around and
the whole area looks much better, especially at night!
