Scenery
for FS2000 by Jason L. Terry
Requirements:
FS2000 and Airport/VOD textures.
Introduction
Location of AFC3
It is the home to the "larger" Aeroworks Concepts such as the Valkyrie II project, and the TR-3 series to name a few, however you may see some of the smaller Concept planes around as well, actually, there's no telling what you may see,...so be watchful...!! Even though this scenery area is fairly small, there is ALOT to see, just about every tarmac, every road, every taxiway leads to some sort of eye-candy. Area-A was originally designed in 1999 as a place to test fly the "then FS5-looking" SR-75 Valkyrie II, thus it has a VERY long main runway, 20,000ft to be exact!
SR-75 and Area-A in FS98
The base is designed for flight testing
of ANY kind of aircraft for FS, long runways for heavy/fast aircraft, ILS
approaches for instrument landing tests, and PLENTY of hangars to accomodate
your aircraft, no matter what size!! I also put in a few lookout
stations that I thought would be a good idea to slew up to allowing the
tower view to be set from that perspective.

Like the first AFC, Area-A was originally created with Airport 2.10 for FS98, however I decided to rework it to FS2000 standards with FSSC. FSSC allows use of the FS2000 Airport Facility Directory as well as the GPS feature, and you can find this airport by going to the Airport menu and searching for the Airport ID "AFC3" or by going to North American menu, then United States, and searching for "Echo Canyon" under Nevada.
What to see and do
...enter at your own risk!
Runways:
Area-A consists
of 4 different runways of different types and uses. The main runway
is 7/25 which is 20,000 x 300 feet and contains an ILS with DME on both
headings. It is used for experimental aircraft that require high-speed
taxi tests, ILS tests, and, of course, takeoffs of the bigger, faster concept
aircraft. Runway 9/27 is 15,000 x 200 feet (no ILS) and it is intended
for the use of cargo planes/ misc. jet traffic in general. Runway
36L/18R is 12,000 x 150 feet with ILS/DME on both headings and is used
as the main ILS runway for non-experimental jet traffic. Runway 36R/18L
is 10,000 x 150 feet (no ILS) and it is used mainly as a primary runway
for chase aircraft or a secondary runway for non-experimental jet traffic.
A startup location for the chase ramp at the end of Runway 18L can be found
by going to FS6 and before in the Airport Facility Directory.
Other Stuff
As I always say,
no scenery area would be complete without suprises. No hidden islands
this time, but if you search around the base you might come across some
REALLY strange vehicles, expect no clues!
